Begin this new school year with the end in mind!

Welcome Back!

I love this John Wayne quote.

New beginnings are magical. The world is fresh once again, and we all have the opportunity to forget past mistakes and create a new and better path for ourselves, our families and our students.

It’s easy to fall into the same routine. In fact, habits are helpful- even essential -to managing your time effectively, as I a spoke about in a recent TMEA clinic on Time Management.

BUT you must constantly analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the habits and routines you employ.

“Are you being most effective in what you do? Are you spending to much of your time on low value tasks?”

To be band specific, do you have an effective and easy to use system for teaching your kids sightreading?

Do you set aside a few minutes everyday, and without even thinking about it, turn to a bookmark you have in an almost 400 page supremely organized directors score and tell your kids to start and play?

Do you have to worry about what they need to learn, what piece you are going to play… is it to hard, to advanced? I forgot where we are even at?

If you have any experiences like this with your sightreading teaching system (you do have a system right? An Organized Plan?) then you need to change now.

Now is the time. Get yourself a copy of David Herring Music Sightreading Skillbuilders Level One and Level Two today.

Start them now. When Contest comes along they will be ready, you will be ready. They will perform better, because they know how and you will teach better because you have a system that is always where your kids need to be.

Contact me at 501-321-9226 or email dhm@wacohill.com. I can take care of all the paperwork for your school if you need to do a Purchase order, or I can send you an invoice for paypal so you can conveniently pay by credit card.

Whatever you do, Get your copy now while the world is new and the time is perfect. Don’t repeat your past mistakes. You know what happens….

I’ve used it for a few years. It’s worth the money.
It will help younger kids with Key changes, Articulation, Fermatas, reading in Major & Minor + modes. The little songs in the book are good! It’s very logical.

It’s divided into chapters so you can jump around a lot and work on things that your band needs.

Last year at a 4A we used book 1 for the non varsity aND book 2 for the varsity. These books I feel are very useful for small school high school and middle school programs and for lower ability bands in larger programs.

The Best Sightreading Program he has ever used
